INSTRUCTIONS FOR NAVIGATING THE ONLINE PUBLICATION READER

 

  1. RETURN HOME: use this button to return to the main publication index where you can select another issue to ready by clicking on the thumbnail image of its coverpage.

  2. INSTRUCTIONS: click on this button to view these instructions at any time. They'll pop up in a new window for you to view while you are browsing the publication.

  3. LOGOUT: click this button at anytime to logout of your reading session.

  4. CONTROL HAND: should you want to manually "grab" the page and move it around the screen you can do so when this button is highlighted. It is ready to go by default so all you have to do is place your mouse over the page, hold down the left hand mouse button and drag the paper into the postion you would like to read it.

  5. TEXT HIGHLIGHTER: want to copy some text? Click on this tool then highlight the text you would like to copy. Hit "CTRL" and "C" on your keyboard. Use "CTRL" and "V" to paste into any other desktop application or word processor.

  6. SEARCH: enter your search words into the box and then click the magnifying glass icon or hit your "ENTER" button on your keyboard. As your search words are found in the publication, they will be highlighted green just like the tool bar.

  7. ZOOM IN AND ZOOM OUT: get closer to every page by grabbing the slider by the small arrow icon. Hold down your mouse with the left button and drag the arrow left and right. As you do so you will see the publication grow and shrink according to your actions. As you zoom in, text will stay clear to read, however some pictures may get fuzzy as you zoom into a great deal. You can see the percentage of magnification in the box next to the slider and you can enter a value in here and hit "ENTER" also.

  8. FIT PAGE TO WINDOW: clicking this button will automatically fit the page you are viewing to the width and height of the window.

  9. FIT PAGE TO WIDTH: like the function above, but this one is where we start the publication out when it first appears. The publication is sized to fit into the width of the window as large as it will go.

  10. PAGE NUMBER: Jump directly to page by entering it into this box and hitting your "ENTER" button.

  11. NEXT AND PREVIOUS PAGE BUTTONS: scroll through the pages using these buttons to look at the next page or the previous one.

  12. PRINT THIS PAGE: click this icon to print the current page you are viewing. You must have a printer correctly installed on your system for this button to work.

  13. SIDEBAR SLIDER: You can manuall scroll through all the pages in an issue by "grabbing" and using the slider on the side of the window. Simply hold down the left mouse button while over the slider and drag to move up and down.

  14. BOTTOM SLIDER: located at the bottom of the reader window, this slider appears when the zoom in magnification is greater than the width of the reader window. You can now use the side-to-side slider to view across a magnified page.
